Osprey High-Speed Ocean Safari – The Ultimate Whale Cruise 🐋⚡
Looking for raw ocean speed without sacrificing the views? Meet Osprey, the heavy-hitting addition to the fleet! Designed for maximum adrenaline and premium viewing, this high-speed, purpose-built whale-watching vessel is your ticket to the open ocean.
Your journey kicks off right at Circular Quay (Campbell’s Cove Pontoon). We’ll do a quick spin to Rose Bay to grab the rest of the crew, and then your skipper turns up the power. Brace yourself as we blast through the Sydney Heads and punch straight out into the wild Tasman Sea at incredible speeds!
Osprey travels just as fast as the extreme open boats, but it comes with huge perks: a protective roof to shield you from the elements, regular comfortable seating, and extra space to move around deck to catch that perfect angle. Even better, our fleet works as a team—sharing radio tracking tips in real-time to locate the most active, playful, and curious whale pods.
Why backpackers love this trip:
The Best of Both Worlds: Incredible high-speed ocean thrill, but with a roof to keep you dry and comfortable.
Team Tracking: We work together with our sister boats, guaranteeing you find the absolute best whale action.
Ultimate Comfort: Extra room on deck to safely move around and capture that viral Instagram video.
Company: Ocean Extreme

Frequently Asked Questions
This is the question we get asked the most often. The answer is there is no time that is better than any other. The whales are migrating up and down the coast 24 hours a day. There is an equal chance of finding some whales at all times throughout the day.
Unless it’s a windy day, you don’t have to worry about getting wet. We also supply spray jackets to keep you nice and dry. In the winter months, it can get very cold out at sea. Thus, you need to wear several layers under our jacket to stay warm throughout the trip. Wear a beanie and gloves on colder days.
Tour departs from the Cambell’s Cove Pontoon at Circular Quay. Passengers must arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.
Whether you’re watching whales from shore or out at sea, we recommend wearing sunglasses and sunscreen to help protect your eyes and skin from the sun, wind and glare.
And of course, don’t forget a phone or camera to capture the experience! Please keep in mind this is an open water experience and there is a chance of water spray. Any personal devices are brought onboard at your own risk.
Whale watching can be bad for whales if the skipper of the boat isn’t responsible or doesn’t know the correct rules for driving around whales. We have been operating tours for over 14 years and always show upmost care. We are required to keep our distance from the whales (100m) and it is up to the whales if the decide to approach our boat. Humpback whales are naturally very curious and they do often approach us however we cannot force this interaction.
Our high speed allows us to cover massive ground, giving us a huge advantage over other tours. However, if no whales are spotted during your safari, you will receive a 100% FREE return cruise voucher to try again another day!
