But since they are completely wild animals, if they decide to play hide-and-seek and we don’t spot any on your tour, we’ve got your back. We will give you a Whale Watching Sighting Guarantee, meaning you can book onto another one of our regular trips completely free of charge
Most of the big operators pack hundreds of people onto massive, multi-level passenger ferries where you’re stuck looking over people’s shoulders. We cap our boutique trips at a maximum of just 34 guests. Our custom-built motor catamaran features purpose-built viewing decks along both sides, putting you right down at water level and within arm’s reach of the action. Everyone gets a front-row seat!

The Ocean Whale Watching Experience is a snappy 2.5-hour return trip. We depart daily right from the heart of the city at King Street Wharf #7 in Darling Harbour. Our engine power gets us past the Opera House, through the Sydney Heads, and out to the whales incredibly fast, giving you maximum viewing time before dropping you right back in town.
Our high-speed catamaran is designed specifically for these ocean conditions and is incredibly safe and stable compared to standard hulls. However, we do go out into the open Pacific Ocean where there can be swells. If you are prone to motion sickness, we highly recommend taking a preventative seasickness tablet from a pharmacy about an hour before boarding so you can comfortably enjoy the tour!
Even if it’s a beautifully sunny, warm day in Sydney, it gets surprisingly windy and chilly once the boat breaks out past the harbour heads into the open ocean. Make sure to dress in comfortable layers, bring a windproof or warm jacket, wear enclosed flat shoes (no flip-flops/thongs on deck!), and don’t forget your sunglasses!
