Your adventure begins with a compulsory 7 a.m. briefing at Freedom Hostel for group assignments, luggage storage, and Fraser Island driving safety. We aim to depart by 9:30 a.m. for a short drive and 10-minute barge crossing to K’gari. Once on the island, it’s a 1-hour drive along 75 Mile Beach to Eurong Beach Resort for a quick morning tea. The real exploration starts as we head to Lake McKenzie for swimming, relaxation, and lunch. By 3:00 p.m., we’ll drive to your campsite for an early dinner, drinks, and fun.

The day begins with a quick breakfast to fuel your busiest day on K’gari (Fraser Island)! First stop is Eli Creek, a beautifully clear creek perfect for a relaxing swim. Travelling north, stop at Maheno Shipwreck for a photo opportunity and a short history lesson about this famous K’gari (Fraser Island) icon before continuing on past Indian Head to the stunning Champagne Pools for a dip. Lunch is served at either Maheno Shipwreck or Champagne Pools on Day 2, depending on time constraints, safety and beauty. In the afternoon, travel back to camp for dinner and drinks.

Start with breakfast before cleaning and disassembling your campsite. Once packed up, you’ll drive to the beginning of the Lake Wabby walk where you’ll stride through the dunes to find a tropical paradise! Lunch follows your trip to Lake Wabby before you begin the drive down the beach and back to the barge. Once arrived on the mainland, head to the 4WD shed where you can unpack and quickly clean the cars. You will return to Freedom Hostel between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Freedom Rainbow Beach offers excellent value and facilities for families, couples and independent travellers.

We offer free luggage storage at Freedom Rainbow Beach for Dingo’s customers. Please see your guide at your safety briefing to organise this. If you’ve got some items you’d rather lock away, we suggest grabbing a locker at Freedom Hostel. All it takes is a small padlock to keep your valuables snug and secure.

Absolutely! To take the wheel on our adventure, all drivers must be 21 years old with a full manual licence, held for at least 1 year. Don’t forget to bring that licence along with you!

If you’re jet-setting in from overseas, make sure to pack your international driver’s licence. Just a heads-up: an international driver’s licence alone won’t cut it – we need the combo with your national licence for a smooth journey.

If you do not meet these requirements, no worries! You’re still more than welcome to join the tour, but the driver’s seat will have to wait for next time. Safety first, adventure second!

Standard booking includes access to a private dedicated campsite right near the beach. Camping equipment is included: tent (twin share), camp mat and sleeping bag.

Yes! All your main meals on the island are fully included (and the groups cook together, which is super social). Alcohol isn’t sold on the island, but you can bring your own drinks (BYO)—just remember glass bottles are strictly banned, so stick to cans or boxes!
