No. The Learn to Dive course is for beginners and ends with PADI Open Water certification. The liveaboard is a snorkel trip with diving as an add-on, and Silverswift is a snorkel day with options for divers.
PADI’s minimum age for Open Water training is 10 in most areas. Divers under 15 get a Junior Open Water certification. Operators can set their own limits, so ask us before booking for anyone under 18.
Every student diver fills in a dive medical questionnaire. If you answer yes to certain questions, a doctor has to sign you off before you dive. Queensland also has its own medical rules for recreational diving, so the operator checks on the day.
Nine dives (4 training dives and 5 fun dives, including a night dive), dive insurance, PADI certification, the PADI manual and a log book. Day 1 is pool training in Cairns.
Up to 11 dives, including 2 night dives, for divers who add diving. All dive gear (including a dive computer, wetsuit and torch), meals, bed linen and transfers from Cairns city and the Northern Beaches are included.
Some operators charge a levy that you pay on arrival, not at checkout, for example on some reef, river and island trips. When a tour has one, it’s shown in the tour’s highlights on its card and on the tour page.
Divers Alert Network recommends at least 12 hours after a single dive and 18 hours after several dives or days of diving. Plan your flight home, scenic flight or skydive with that in mind.
