Every night of the year 🐧 The little penguins come ashore at sunset, whatever the weather.
It’s outdoors and can get cold and windy even in summer, so bring warm clothes and a rain jacket. Photos and filming aren’t allowed at the Penguin Parade after sunset, because bright light can frighten the penguins. Book the Phillip Island & Penguins tour with pick-ups from the CBD and St Kilda.
Take the SkyBus to Southern Cross Station ✈️ Buses leave about every 10 to 15 minutes and take around 30 minutes. There’s no train to the airport. A taxi or rideshare also works but costs more.
Any time 🌦️ Autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November) are mild and less crowded. Summer (December to February) is the warmest and busiest, and winter is cool but cheaper.
The weather can change fast, so pack layers and a rain jacket whatever the season.
