Cairns Tours & Activities

Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree. Snorkel or dive the outer reef, ride the Skyrail and Scenic Railway to Kuranda, chase Tablelands waterfalls, raft the Barron or Tully rivers, or skydive over the coast. Every tour lists exactly what’s included, so you can spend less time planning and more time outdoors.

Message us on WhatsApp any time 💬 If we’re online, we’ll reply straight away. Outside business hours, we’ll get back to you first thing the next morning.

Your vouchers arrive by email within minutes of booking 📩 They have everything you need: meeting time and place, the operator’s contact details and any important extras.

No licence needed for an intro dive 🤿 You’ll fill in the operator’s medical questionnaire on the day. If you answer yes to any question (for example asthma or some medications), you may need a doctor’s dive medical first, so check before you book.
Already certified (PADI or SSI)? Book a certified dive day. Want your own licence? Do the Learn to Dive course or a liveaboard trip.

The dry season, May to October, has the most reliable weather, lower humidity and usually calmer seas for reef trips ☀️ The wet season, November to April, is hot and humid with storms, but the rainforest is lush and the waterfalls are at their best.

  • Stinger season is roughly November to May. Wear a stinger suit in the ocean and swim at patrolled beaches between the flags, inside the stinger nets 🪼
  • Crocodiles live in the region’s rivers, estuaries and some beaches. Follow the warning signs and stay out of murky water and river mouths 🐊
  • The Esplanade Lagoon in the city is free, has lifeguards and is safe all year

The airport is about 7 km north of the city centre ✈️ There’s no public bus from the terminals, so take a taxi, a rideshare or a pre-booked shuttle. Lots of our tours include pick-ups from Cairns hostels, so check your tour details.

We’d suggest 4 to 5 nights: one or two reef days, one for the Daintree, and one for Kuranda, waterfalls or rafting. Learning to dive? Add the length of your course.
